About Me

Hi there, my name's Helen Ruhlin, thanks for taking the time to drop in, scroll through, and maybe even read a blog or two! A little about me:

I'm from a small town in Southwestern Maine called Cornish, but now (technically) reside upstate in Industry (that's where my mail gets sent anyway). I graduated from Simmons University in 2021 with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and a passion for storytelling. This is my fourth blog, however writing isn't my only hobby. Some other creative outlets I'm passionate about fall under fine arts, videography, animation, digital illustration, photography, audio storytelling, and more (most of which you can find sneak peaks of on my Instagram)!

I've spoken to a lot of folks about my life and what I'd like to do with it and often find them surprised and impressed at how independently and against the grain I wish to pursue my future. I too fell under the impression for a long time that life was about following a set of milestones: graduate high school, go to college, get a degree, get a job, buy a house, start a family, save money, and retire. But in writing this blog, I hope to open a conversation about taking unexpected routes. My goal is to inspire and maybe even empower others to recognize just how wide the world is and how very many unique and fulfilling paths there are to take on it.
